Joachim Sebastian expertly sells his message of selling online

Business has moved on to B2B eCommerce and to mobile commerce, but when it comes to getting your message across, some things just never change.

Our shortlisted nominee today for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2019 in the category of Best Broadcast Award, Joachim Sebastian, demonstrates these as talks on BFM 'Open for Business'.

As Managing Director of Everpeaks Consulting, he is of course keen to talk about small businesses establishing their presence on Amazon.com and eBay. Overall he manages to strike a careful balance between the sales pitch and offering real value to listeners.

Here are two observations about his performance:

  1. Stories and examples – Sebastian captured our attention with a story of a local ‘makcik’ who sold sambal, and how he boosted her sales to 60 bottles a day. He also shared how he got into eCommerce with an unrelated degree in biomedical sciences. He gave several enlightening examples throughout the interview. He gave examples on the seven types of job that a team-in-charge of sales on Amazon's 18 platforms should have in an SME. He talked about ideal products that sell well on Amazon.com and eBay, with dimensions of 30cm x 30cm x 30cm and a price above US$25. All up, very visual.
  2. Flagging - Sebastian flagged attributes he looks for in brand owners. Can you spot them around the 5:26 minute mark?
