Baby-faced Sadira Yeong gives a mature account of herself
By Sadira Yeong's own admission, she looks young and sounds young.
But she proves that how you look and how you sound are no barriers to fielding an interview well, which is why we have nominated her for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
Watch and read below for my assessment.

We launched the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards in 2018 to recognise local business leaders for their communications skills, and to showcase authentic and credible home-grown communicators.
Supported by the Asia Pacific Association of Communications Directors and joining us this year – the Investor Relations Professionals Association Singapore and the Public Relations and Communications Association – we highlight shining examples for other local business leaders to follow, and to build a culture of excellence in communication, to maximise the potential of Asian companies in the Asian Century.
Nominations close October 31, 2021 at www.mediasavvy.asia.<... starts the interview by acknowledging the elephant in the room – that she looks very young, and she has a high-pitched voice. By addressing upfront what many viewers would think, she builds rapport and sets the tone for a sincere conversation.
Confidence
Yeong speaks clearly and comes across as measure and confident. We like that she manages to get her point through, which she does through stories.
Stories
Charting her path, Yeong relates how she started a blog shop to help her family through financial trouble. She also recalls some people telling her straight to her face that her personality is unworthy of her position.
In response Yeong says she would not try to challenge and debate them because she knows her actions and results will speak louder. Her stories carry learning points many older presenters could emulate.
If you know Sadira Yeong, share this article with her and congratulate her on being nominated for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
