Damian Lee of Sunnyhills in an interview with The Royal Singapore

Appearing in the media is a nerve-wracking experience for some corporate chiefs - but not so for Damian Lee.

The CEO of Sunnyhills impressed us with the smooth and calm way he rolls through his interview with The Royal Singapore.

We like his interesting and humorous stories even more as they are also on point with his pineapple and durian brand’s message, which is why we have nominated him for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2020.

Watch and read below for my assessment.

We launched the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards in 2018 to recognise local business leaders for their communications skills, and to showcase authentic and credible home-grown communicators.

Supported by the Asia Pacific Association of Communications Directors, we highlight shining examples for other local business leaders to follow, and to build a culture of excellence in communication, to maximise the potential of Asian companies in the Asian Century.

  • Storytelling

Lee tells a story about a rookie mistake he and his team made when they opened durians on an expensive meeting room table. It is a funny story and drives home how he started the durian business from scratch.

  • Delivery

Another trait we like about Lee is his steady, unhurried delivery. He knows the stories he wants to tell and he takes his time to tell them. He is calm and engaging.

  • Core message

We did a poll in the office of the people who remember Damian’s messages after the interview, and we were not surprised to find that most of us recall that Sunnyhills is focused on the quality of its ingredients. Watch the interview for yourself and see what stands out for you - and his technique in making it stick.

If you know Damian Lee, share this article with him and congratulate him on being nominated for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2020.
