Lyn Lee tells awfully good stories

Awfully Chocolate's co-founder Lyn Lee is a natural storyteller who does a good job of sharing stories and examples from her experience in running Awfully Chocolate for the past 23 years, which is why we have nominated her for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.

From talking about defying people’s expectations to the need to find your own path in life, Lee tells engaging stories with a dose of introspection while coming across as authentic, making the interview seem like a chat between close friends.

This is something not every interviewee can pull off, and this is why we have nominated her for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.

Watch and read below for my assessment.

We launched the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards in 2018 to recognise local business leaders for their communications skills, and to showcase authentic and credible home-grown communicators.

Supported by the Asia Pacific Association of Communications Directors and joining us this year – the Investor Relations Professionals Association Singapore and the Public Relations and Communications Association - we highlight shining examples for other local business leaders to follow, and to build a culture of excellence in communication, to maximise the potential of Asian companies in the Asian Century.

Nominations close October 31, 2021 at www.mediasavvy.asia.

Authentic

Viewers will get a sense of conviction from Lee because she speaks from a place of truth.

About dealing with naysayers, she says: "If you believe in yourself, if you believe in the cause, if you are proud of what you do every day, don't give up so easily and soldier on."

Showing her flair for words, she concludes, “and there is beauty and wonder in that.”

Stories

Lee is good at telling stories. She shares a story that is close to her heart, where she found out about a woman who was lining up to buy an Awfully Chocolate cake four times a week, because her mother was battling cancer and it was the only thing she had an appetite for.

This heart-warming story inspires Lyn to keep doing what she is doing - and inspired us to keep watching.

We like how comfortable Lee is at telling stories, which is complemented by her non-verbal cues, her expressive language and the changes in her tone of voice.

Lee is a fantastic storyteller and by adding stories to the interview, she makes what would come off as a formal occasion seem like a chat with an old friend.

If you know Lyn Lee, share this article with her and congratulate her on being nominated for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
