Nadiah Wan drives home an empathetic message in interview that's sheer viewing pleasure
Nadiah Wan scores a public relations home run with her empathy and on-point messaging in the BMW Malaysia series "The ExChange", which is why we have nominated her for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
Wan is Group CEO of TMC Life Sciences Bhd, and stands out as genuine and empathetic, as she fields interview questions about the challenges from the pandemic and dealing with change.
She deftly turns them into an opportunity for excellent messaging for her organisation, which is why we have nominated her for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
Watch and read below for my assessment.

We launched the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards in 2018 to recognise local business leaders for their communications skills, and to showcase authentic and credible home-grown communicators.
Supported by the Asia Pacific Association of Communications Directors and joining us this year – the Investor Relations Professionals Association Singapore and the Public Relations and Communications Association - we highlight shining examples for other local business leaders to follow, and to build a culture of excellence in communication, to maximise the potential of Asian companies in the Asian Century.
Nominations close October 31, 2021 at www.mediasavvy.asia.

Messaging
Wan talks about her company's offer of free health care for medical staff but also cleaners and security guards in the buildings in which they operate, in order to improve public health in the pandemic.
She says: “For public health reasons, everyone’s health matters. Whether they’re your employee or not, whether they’re the outsourced housekeeper, the security guard, or the staff in your hospital.”
She hammers the point home by saying there is more empathy and more awareness of health care as a universal right and value.
The best thing about this move? She was asked about the changes she has made during the pandemic. What a bridge!
Clear, empathetic statements
When Wan talks about digital solutions, she is clear about how teleconsultations are most appealing to patients in this climate, and that this service allows most people to feel safe as they can avoid lining up in person and therefore avoid feeling unsafe in a crowd.
Another win comes in the way Wan talks about tough decisions. Wan mentions briefly the cost-cutting measures she had to implement when the pandemic started. But she elaborates more about the necessity of making her people understand the issues and the reasons behind the tough decisions.
If you know Nadiah Wan, share this article with her and congratulate her on being nominated for the Hong Bao Media Savvy Awards 2021.
